Are you a skilled and experienced Consultant in Haematology seeking an exciting opportunity in Cheshire (Crewe)? Look no further! Pulse Doctor is actively recruiting an experienced and committed Haematology Consultant to be part of our team in Cheshire (Crewe). This full-time/part-time permanent role includes clinics, ward rounds, and all administrative tasks, along with an on-call schedule. The position offers a permanent contract with an immediate start date.

The successful candidate will join the clinical haematology service based in Crew. This role involves supporting the development of clinical haematology services across the southern sector of the Greater Manchester and Cheshire Cancer Network (GMCCN). The Haematology Department acts as a tertiary referral center for patients with haematological malignancies and bone marrow failure. Inpatient haematology and transplant services are provided by the 31-bedded Ward, while outpatient services are available through the Haematology and Transplant Day Unit (HTDU) and the ambulatory care facility. Over the past few years, the department has experienced significant growth, with plans to expand services closer to home. It is recognized as one of Europe’s experimental cancer medical centers and an international leader in development. Additionally, it is listed in the top 15% of NHS providers in the country.

Based in Cheshire, the hospital offers a supportive and warm working culture. Patients have access to Level 3 care, and the area boasts excellent transport links and amenities for both work and leisure. The job plan for a Consultant Haematologist typically includes a mix of clinical, administrative, and teaching responsibilities. Clinical duties involve outpatient clinics, inpatient ward rounds, and participation in multi-disciplinary team meetings. Teaching responsibilities may include supervision of junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare professionals. The working pattern can vary based on individual preferences and service requirements, with some consultants working full-time (10 sessions per week) and others choosing part-time arrangements. An example of a full-time 10-session schedule includes outpatient clinics, inpatient ward rounds, multi-disciplinary team meetings, administrative tasks, teaching, and special interest sessions.

Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council.
  • MRCP Part 1 and Part 2.
  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Haematology.
  • Meets the criteria set out in the Specialist generic capabilities framework.
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register; eligible for entry on Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) at the time of interview.
