Honouring healthcare heroes

Our healthcare professionals work tirelessly every day, often not getting the recognition they deserve. At Pulse, we see you as more than this, we see you as a hero. That’s why we’ve relaunched our Healthcare Heroes award—to celebrate the exceptional individuals who make a lasting impact on their peers, the people they care for, and the wider community. This month’s award winner, Zarka, always goes above and beyond for everyone in her life, so our prize for her will allow her to treat herself for a change.

We understand that healthcare professionals are more than just their job titles; you’re people with unique needs and aspirations. That’s why we take the time to really get to know you, so we can offer support when needed and offer you rewards that truly reflect who you are.

Each month, our team at Pulse nominates a Healthcare Hero—someone who has stood out for their extraordinary contributions. Peers and colleagues share their personal motivations for the nomination, and the Pulse team carefully reviews the nominations, selecting an award recipient. The chosen Healthcare Hero receives a personalised award, thoughtfully selected to celebrate them as an individual.

Zarka, our Nursing Healthcare Hero

This month, our Healthcare Hero is Zarka, a RGN from Manchester, who embodies our values; Driven by excellence, Putting people first, Always by your side.

“Zarka is a fantastic nurse who always shows compassion, dedication and she consistently provides exceptional patient care. Her commitment to patient wellbeing is evident in every interaction she makes on her shifts, whether it’s offering a comforting word, a reassuring smile, or expert medical care, Zarka consistently goes above and beyond to ensure the best outcomes for her patients. Zarka’s ability to connect with patients on a personal level, combined with her professional excellence, makes her invaluable to our Pulse team. Outside of her role as a nurse, Zarka also runs a charity where she also spends a lot of her time giving back to others and travelling overseas. “

“Zarka is hard working. She is flexible to start shifts last minute and spends her hard-earned money funding a charity in Pakistan. She visits often and volunteers at least 2 months out of each year. She is always baking cakes for family and friends for birthdays and has a really beautiful outlook to life. Her own life experience helps her care better for her patients.”

After receiving her reward as a Healthcare Hero and the prize of a spa day, an overwhelmed Zarka expressed her surprise:

“I’m so grateful for being recognised as a Healthcare Hero! It means a lot to me. I would like to thank you all for nominating me. It’s very kind of you. I’m looking forward to enjoying my spa day with my sister.”
